San Jose State softball (15-17, 4-4 MW) lost 3-2 the second game of a three-game series in the tenth inning with Fresno State (22-11, 6-2 MW) winning on a squeeze bunt.

SJSU had two runs, five hits and zero errors compared to the three runs, eight hits and two errors from Fresno State.

Starting off strong, the Spartans took the lead as senior Aubrie Thomas had an RBI double, allowing senior Jules Ronquillo to score.

The Spartans offensive leaders in the game were Thomas with 1-for-5 at bat and junior Amiyah Noriega 2-for-4 at bat.

Things started to pick up in the fourth inning as sophomore Haley Reeve was able to advance to third base where she was able to steal home.

The Bulldogs were able to strike out both freshman Taylor Chillingsworth and sophomore Carly Cummings

This did not deter the Spartans as they kept their defense against the Bulldogs, not allowing any runs, only one hit.

However, in the seventh inning the Bulldogs were able to come back as sophomore Olivia Hill doubled it to the left center.

This allowed teammates junior Emma Martinez and senior Tayrn Irigoyen to score, tying the game.

In the eighth inning, Noriega tripled to left field. However, the Spartans could not do anything, giving the Bulldogs a chance.

The Spartans switched pitchers to senior pitcher Mia Reynolds who supported her defense, not allowing Fresno to score.

In the tense last two innings, defenses and pitchers stayed strong, stopping any momentum from each team.

Until the tenth inning, the Bulldogs sophomore Kealani Nitta had a triple to left field and was able to score.
