SJSU track and field day 2 at Hornet Invitational coming in with multiple personal bests across the board.

San Jose State competed at Hornet invitational in Sacramento Calif. all day March 22.

The women’s team ranked in eight place out of 16 teams and the men finished in fourth place out of 20 teams. 

The SJSU head coach Charles Ryan was content with how the teams performed today. 

“These past two days of competition here in Sacramento have been an excellent early season for the Spartans across the board,” Ryan said. “It’s the right way to start the season outdoors.

Personal records were made today starting off with Sky Hagan as she set a historic new school record in the Women’s 100m Hurdles coming in first place with a time of 13.6 seconds. 

Hagan is now holding the number one fastest time in the country on the NCAA national qualifying list.

Kendall Mccoy also got a personal best in the Women’s 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.29.

Another personal best for  the womens would be Savan Dutton with a 58:54 in the 400m.

Christopher Coats also set a personal record in the 100m coming in at 10.43 seconds, ranking him now 9th in the overall SJSU outdoor history.  

When it came to relay events the Men’s 4×100 team Aiden Stalnecker, Cameron Tarver, Christian Hauge, and Christopher Coats secured a 1st place finish with a time of 40.13 seconds making it their new personal best. 

In the Men’s 1500m Christopher Malone and Alexander Walker  both set personal bests with Malone coming in at 3:57:35 and Walker at 3:58:68. 

“We’re in a good place and we’re setting up ourselves for the next few weeks of competition,” said coach Ryan.
