San Jose State won 10 medals across three days of the championship, with seven coming on the last day.
Junior Sky Hagan broke the school record in the 60m dash and took gold while doing so. She also broke her lifetime best with a time of 7.32.
Hagan broke her own school record that she had set the previous day in order to obtain her gold medal.
Hagan was also the top seed in the 60m hurdles before being disqualified for a false start.
“She gathered herself emotionally yesterday and ultimately made the 60m final, only to today come back, win the championship, gold medal, PR, school record,” director of track and field and cross country Charles Ryan said. “That speaks to the growth and the development that Sky Hagan has undergone the last year and a half in our program, and I just couldn’t be prouder of the mentality that she showed out here today.”
The women’s triple jump team swept the podium places as senior Emilia Sjostrand took gold, graduate student Simone Johnson took silver and sophomore Katharina Graman finished out the podium places with bronze.
“What coach Harris has done with that group, and their ability to perform under pressure every single time is just beautiful to watch,” Ryan said.
With Sjostrands mark of 14.01m, she now shares the number one womens triple-jump spot in the nation.
This also marks Sjostrands third gold medal in triple jump and her fifth total Mountain West indoor gold medal across both the triple jump and long jump.
Johnson also took silver in the womens long jump the day prior. These results bring Johnsons total Mountain West silver medal count to four for her career.
Graman also double-dipped as she was able to earn a bronze medal the day prior in the womens long jump final.
Both Sjostrand and Johnson will be representing SJSU in the NCAA indoor national championships between March 13-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Sophomore Ethan Fong earned two podium places across the multi-day event as he placed silver in the long jump and bronze in the triple jump.
Junior Christopher Coats finished in second place in the 400m dash, earning him a silver medal with a time of 46.66.
Freshman DeShawn Banks, competing in the mens high jump, earned a silver medal with a jump of 2.09m.
The Spartans will be moving outside next week as they will be participating in the Cal Outdoor Opener on March 8 at Edwards Stadium.
