San Jose State softball (8-11) suffered its third loss of the Libby Matson Tournament, losing to Pacific (8-8) 7-5.

The Spartans offense got off to a hot start, scoring three runs at the end of the third inning and building an early 3-1 advantage.

The Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth, quickly turning the game around and going up 6-3.

Pacific scored one more run in the fifth.

Once the seventh inning arrived, the Spartans’ offense started to click, scoring two runs, but the Tigers’ defense held them in check, clinching the win.

It was an offensive show by both teams, but the Tigers had 12 hits compared to the Spartans eight.

Spartans Junior Reina Zermeno led the Spartans on offense, recording four hits and two RBIs.

Redshirt Freshman Taylor Chillingworth also had a solid offensive performance, recording one hit and two RBIs.

The Tigers got revenge on the Spartans after losing the tournament’s second game Friday when they beat them 9-0.
