It was a tough afternoon for SJSU Beach Volleyball (1-7) as they lost 3-2 against UC Davis (5-3).

The affair didn’t start the way the Spartans wanted, losing the first match on sets of 21-15 and 21-18.

Junior Randi Reaves and freshman Sabrina Moore were able to secure SJSU their first point of the afternoon with sets of 14-21, 21-18, and 15-12.

“We started getting a little fired up,” Reaves said. “The third set came and we were just fired up ready to go.”

Sophomore Alexandra Dale and Anna Salmon were able to follow up with a win of 16-21, 21-17, and 15-11 in their match.

It wasn’t enough for the Spartans to win, as the Aggies were able to secure the last two games of their matchups having already won the first.

The Spartans had been competing in the Battle of the Bay tournament since Friday, playing four different schools but only able to pick up one victory against the University of San Francisco when it was all set and done.

But the home crowd fueled SJSU to battle hard every step of the way.

“Just to hear the crowd in the stands yelling and screaming for our players…our players were really feeding off of that energy,” Hodge said.

“Everyone was clapping and cheering, it was super fun,” Reaves said.

Up next, SJSU Beach Volleyball plays University of the Pacific this coming Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in Sacramento.
