San Jose State Women’s Tennis (7-1) beat Santa Clara (6-5) 4-3 on Friday continuing a three game win streak.
The Spartans took the doubles point and three singles matches.
In the singles competition, sophomore Cheuk Ying Shek won both her sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Senior Carla Urchoeguia fell short in her singles match, 6-1, 6-3, against Santa Clara’s senior Velizara Fileva
Freshman Soledad Fayos won both her matches with scores of 6-4, 6-3 and gained another point.
Sophomore Duru Durgun who originally lost the first set 4-6, but came back with winning the last two, 7-5 and 6-1.
Santa Clara gained the lead in winning the first game of doubles with Daniella Dimitrova and Anna Rahman with a score of 6-1.
However, the Spartans came back against Santa Clara.
Shek won her doubles match with partner Urchoeguia with a score of 6-2.
Freshman Emma Fantousis and Fayos won their doubles matches 6-3.
Fantousis and Fayos maintain an undefeated record together as a pair.
SJSU will face Cal State Fullerton at 11 a.m. March 2 at Spartan Tennis Complex.
