San Jose State’s Women’s head soccer coach, Tina Estrada is resigning.
Estrada has been with the team for seven seasons, serving the last three seasons as head coach.
As head coach, Estrada managed a 12-30-18 record across her three seasons.
In 2022, she led the team to a Mountain West regular-season title, a Mountain West tournament title and a first-round appearance in the NCAA women’s soccer tournament.
“Thank you to SJSU, staff, administration, players, parents, alumni, donors, and supporters for everything during my seven years here,” Estrada said in a press release Thursday. “This was a tough life decision to make, but it’s the right decision for me and my family.”
When she first joined the coaching staff in 2018, Estrada helped lead the Spartans to a Mountain West championship as well as the first round of the NCAA tournament.
In 2019, she helped the Spartans become the only team in the conference to qualify for five straight Mountain West tournaments.
Estrada also made history as part of the Spartans as she became the first coach in SJSU women’s soccer history to win a regular season and tournament title in the same year.
“Coach Estrada spent seven years building this program into a winner in the Mountain West, making multiple NCAA tournament appearances,” SJSU athletics director Jeff Konya said in response to Estrada’s resignation. “She leaves behind a championship legacy, and her contributions will have a lasting impact on the future of the women’s soccer program.”
