The offensive woes continue as San Jose State women’s soccer (0-4-2) failed once again to get on the win column following a 3-0 road loss Sunday against UC Santa Barbara (1-1-3).
This marks the third time this season the Spartans got shut out.
SJSU failed to capitalize on any of its 13 shots in the game.
“Just overall a bad show from our team this weekend, today included,” SJSU head coach Tina Estrada said in a video posted to the SJSU Athletics website. “We had too many defensive breakdowns all over the field.”
The Spartans couldn’t stop freshman forward Devin Greer who scored two goals on two shots for UC Santa Barbara.
One bright spot for the Spartans was senior goalkeeper Shayla Sugai recording three saves and only allowing one goal after substituting for junior goalkeeper Bente Pernot in the 56th minute.
Senior defender Jordan Rowell was the only Spartan in this game to play all 90 minutes.
Some good news for the Spartans may be coming according to Estrada.
“We have some legs that we’re getting back this week and we’re back with our whole team,” Estrada said.
The Spartans’ next match is scheduled for Sept. 12 as they will continue to play on the road to take on Eastern Washington with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
