SJSU women’s volleyball looks to end losing streak

SJSU women’s volleyball will take on UNLV on Nov. 14. hoping to end on a positive note in the last few home matches of the season.

The Spartans (12-17, 3-13 MW) are back on a five-game losing streak against Nevada, Colorado State, Wyoming, Utah State and Boise State.

Meanwhile, the UNLV Rebels (11-17, 9-7 MW) are currently on a three-game winning streak against UNR, Colorado State and Wyoming.

Redshirt Junior Blaire Fleming struggled in the match against Boise State, recording six errors and a hitting percentage of 0.000, indicating challenges in scoring efficiently. Junior Brooke Bryant faced difficulties with a negative hitting percentage of -0.050 and contributed to the team’s challenges with five errors in her attacks. Senior Jiana Lawson encountered challenges in scoring with a hitting percentage of 0.000 and committed two errors during the match.

In its last match, SJSU fell to Boise State 3-0. In the first set, Boise State took the lead with a series of kills by Paige Bartsch and maintained the lead throughout the set.

However, the Spartans struggled with errors, with Brooke Bryant and Blaire Fleming facing challenges in their attacks. Despite efforts by SJSU, Boise State secured the set 25-19.

Moving on to the second set, Boise State took the lead once again with Elle Cotton contributing a service ace. SJSU still faced more struggles with errors.

Boise State maintained the lead in the third set taking advantage of SJSU’s errors. Brooke Slusser managed service aces, but Boise State’s Bartsch and Noelani Helm led their team to a 25-17 victory in the set securing a 3-0 match win for Boise State over San Jose State.

SJSU struggled in the volleyball match against Boise State with attack, service and block errors throughout the three sets. Boise took advantage of SJSU’s errors and was able to secure the lead in all sets.

SJSU women’s volleyball look to bounce back in its next match at home against UNLV today at 6 p.m., one of the last two games of the season.
