SJSU women’s volleyball will take on Boise State on Nov. 11.

The Spartans (12-16, 3-12 MW) are currently on a four-game losing streak after losing close matches to Nevada, Colorado State, Wyoming and Utah State.

Meanwhile, the Boise State Broncos ( 11-14, 7-8 MW) are currently on a five-game losing streak after recent losses.

The team’s performance this season heavily relies on these volleyball athletes on SJSU’s roster.

Redshirt Junior Blaire Fleming had a low attack percentage of 0.095 and made five errors in 21 attempts. However, she was able to contribute seven kills during the Mountain West regular season championship against Utah State. Junior Brooke Bryant has a slightly higher attack percentage of 0.158 but still made four errors in 19 attempts and added seven kills. Junior Brooke Slusser had a negative attack percentage of -0.091, indicating more errors than successful attacks. Redshirt Freshman Nayeli Ti’a had an attack percentage of 0.100 and contributed with 4 digs, but she also had 2 service errors.

In its last match, SJSU fell to USU 3-0. In the first set, due to Fleming’s attack error, USU took the lead and maintained the lead through kills and service aces and won 25-16.

In the second set, USU took an early lead with kills and a service ace. While SJSU made substitutions and challenged a call, USU was able to secure kills and successful attack winning the second set with 25-12.

In the third set, USU took the lead once again scoring kills and attacks for their team. Fleming and Yazmin Pitpit contributed kills for SJSU. The set and the match ended with a kill by Kennedi Boyd for USU.

The Spartans faced challenges leading to their loss against USU. During the sets, SJSU struggled with inconsistent attack performance, service errors and unsuccessful challenges. Unable to catch up to Utah State’s scoring early successful attacks and kills taking the lead in all the sets. Ultimately, Utah State won.

The Spartans should look to bounce back in its next match against Boise State Saturday at 11 a.m. considering it is the final road match of the season.
