With the score 14-13 in set five, Junior Brooke Slusser delivered a service ace to send SJSU women’s volleyball home with a much needed win.
After losing six-straight during a very rough patch, SJSU women’s volleyball broke the streak beating Fresno State (13-10, MW 7-5) in five sets 3-2.

SJSU won the first two sets 25-22, 25-21. Going up 2-0 early seemed to have it all wrapped up but, FSU didn’t go down without a fight.
FSU dominated SJSU women’s volleyball in the third set taking a commanding 25-16 victory. The Spartans continued to make SJSU fans sweat by losing the fourth set 20-25 sending the match to a winner take all fifth set.
After losing six-straight Mountain West matches, blowing a 2-0 lead to a rival would’ve been beyond frustrating for the Spartans. Fortunately, SJSU women’s volleyball held onto the victory wining the fifth set 15-13 on Slusser’s service ace.
Senior Jiana Lawson led the Spartans with eight blocks on the match. This was Lawson’s fifth time this season recording eight or more blocks in a match.
SJSU has now won six consecutive matches over the Bulldogs.
SJSU women’s volleyball will play next on the road in Reno as they will take on Nevada at 1 p.m. on October 28th.
