SJSU women’s soccer will take on Air Force for its final home game before going off to Fresno to finish the season.

The Spartans (3-8-6, 1-5-3) sit in last place in the Mountain West and look to play spoiler against the tenth-place Falcons (5-9-2, 2-5-2).

The Falcons have eight points and only trail the sixth place Lobos by a single point for the sixth seed that would put them in Mountain West championship contention.

SJSU will look to play its meanest form of soccer after giving up a lead In its 2-1 loss against Colorado College on Thursday.

The loss moved the Spartans to last place.

However, the Spartans didn’t lose without battling and having a great offensive game going. They had a season-high 13 corner kicks and got 20 shots off with nine being on target.

“We generated a lot,” said head coach Tina Estrada, “Unfortunately if you don’t put those away early and don’t execute on the many corner kicks that we had and let a team hang around they’ll find a way.”

Air Force are fresh off playing their last home game on Thursday night’s 4-2 loss against Fresno State.

Much like the Spartans, the Falcons fought hardest in the second half, but still came up with a loss.

Their first goal came off a rebounder from the net and sophomore Samantha Sharp was at the right place and right time to shoot a rocket for her first collegiate goal.

Three minutes later Junior forward Mia Otero launched her team leading fifth goal of the season, unassisted, to cut the lead by half.

Estrada is excited for senior day for players like Jennah Loggins, Sarah Santos, Sabrina Weinman and Kiana Miyazato.

The match will kick off Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
