SJSU women’s volleyball will take on New Mexico tomorrow Oct. 19 after a string of recent losses.
The Spartans (11-10, 2-6 MW) have been on four game losing streak against University of Wyoming (0-3), Colorado State (0-3), Boise State (0-3) and Utah State (0-3).
Meanwhile, the Lobos (14-6, 6-3 MW) have been on a strong run recently winning two out of their three recent games against Air Force 3-0 and Wyoming 3-1.
SJSU’s roster with stand-out players play an important role in the team’s performance this season.
Senior Letizia Cammillucci led the SJSU with 10 kills for the second time this week against Utah State during the Mountain West game last Saturday. She also holds a team-best of eight digs in the match for the team.
Senior Jiana Lawson led the team with with 4 blocks assists. Junior Brooke Bryant hit nine kills, seven digs and a team-best hitting percentage of .286 in the match.
SJSU has a history of success against New Mexico. Last year, two victories (3-0) were secured for the Spartans in their last meeting, along with another win against New Mexico 3-1 last year.
In its last match, SJSU fell to Utah State 3-0. However, the Spartans have shown their strong determination and ability to come back stronger before. They lost against San Diego State 1-3 but came back with wins against Nevada 3-1 and Fresno State 3-1.
