SJSU volleyball could not get the job again on the road losing to Colorado State University in three straight sets on Saturday.

The first set the Spartans (11-8, 2-3 MW) fought in came close to being in their favor only losing to the Rams (9-8, 3-3 MW) by the score of 25-22.

SJSU got even closer to taking the second set by forcing extra points and losing 28-26.

“We had many opportunities in the first and second set,” said head coach Todd Kress. “Then just really disappointed in the third set.”

The Spartans were absolutely shut down in the third set. The offense could not break the Rams’ defense, losing, 25-12.

Colorado State put up a total of 26 blocks, the Spartans only four.

Gaining the most kills in the match for the Spartans were still the duo in senior Letizia Cammillucci with nine and freshman Nayeli Ti’a with 12.

“We had our backs against a wall,” said Kress.

SJSU volleyball will look to bounce back when it hosts Boise State on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
