San Jose State women’s volleyball takes a loss to San Diego State

In a thrilling women’s volleyball match, the San Diego State Aztecs managed to win against the San Jose State Spartans 26-24.

Intense rallies, several timeouts, and formidable individual performances characterized the game.

The game was keenly contested from the beginning. Both teams displayed resilience and skill.

During the game, SJSU senior outside hitter Letizia Cammillucci and freshman outside hitter Nayeli Ti’a had notable performances.

They countered with skillful kills from assists by junior setter Brooke Slusser, and freshman setter Teya Nguyen, keeping their team in the hunt.

On the other side, SDSU sophomore opposite hitter Taylor Underwood made significant contributions throughout the match. Freshman setter Fatimah Hall supported crucial kills with precise assists.

The set saw multiple lead changes, and teams were continuously forced to regroup and strategize. They effectively countered each other’s plays.

SDSU managed to win the third set with a score of 25-18, carrying momentum and posing a significant challenge for SJSU.

However, SJSU showed their mettle with players like Ti’a and Cammillucci who responded to the pressure with decisive plays.

In total, SJSU had 25 attack errors and 13 service errors. SDSU had 24 attack errors and seven service errors.

Both teams had their share of service and attack errors throughout the game, providing the opposition with chances to pull ahead.

In the nerve-wracking final moments of the fourth set, with the score at 24-23 in favor of SDSU, a kill by Cammillucci assisted by Slusser brought SJSU within one point of a draw.

However, a final kill by Taylor Underwood, assisted by Fatimah Hall, sealed the set and the match for SDSU at 26-24.

Although they fell short, the game promised exciting prospects for their upcoming matches.

SJSU women’s volleyball team faces off against Nevada in a home game on September 28 at 6 p.m.
