The San Jose State’s women’s golf team has added another accomplishment to its record. The No. 5 ranked women’s golf team now has four Spartans on the All-Mountain West first team.

Seniors Natasha Andrea Oon and Antonia Malate, junior Kajsa Arwefjäll and freshman Lucia Lopez Ortega have been named first-team all conference .

Having four students from one school is a feat in and of itself as it is the most since 2006, when UNLV accomplished the same.

Oon, for the second time has been named the Mountain West Player of the Year. She is also the No. 4 player in the country and has led the MW with a stroke average of 71.81 in 27 rounds played. Those are part of what Oon has accomplished, as she also has been chosen for the Arnold Palmer Cup as part of the international team.

Ortega won this year’s Freshman of the Year, with a 73.00 stroke average and finished second at the conference championship with a -3 213. Her title is one more thing under her belt.

Arwefjäll and Malate both have additional achievements along with being named on the first team. Arwefjäll, alongside Oon, was chosen for the Arnold Palmer Cup as part of the international team. Malate was chosen for the Arnold Palmer Cup as part of Team USA.

Alongside the four Spartans, head coach Dana Dormann also received a title. Coach Dormann has been named the Mountain West Coach of the Year for the second time, the first coming in 2019.

After the accomplishments the team and coach have, SJSU will continue to play at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional on May 9-11 at the UM Golf Course.
