The Mountain West postseason awards were announced on Tuesday, Nov. 30 and several Spartans were honored.

Most prominently were two players who received first-team all-MW honors in senior linebacker Kyle Harmon and sophomore defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko.

Harmon was a bonafide tackling machine in 2021, leading the team with 134 total tackles and 72 solo tackles. Harmon also nabbed 7.5 tackles for loss this past season. His 134 total tackles led the MW which were second in the entire NCAA.

Fehoko was a menace on the edge all season for San Jose State, leading the team with seven sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. Despite entering the season in the shadow of 2020 MW defensive player of the year Cade Hall, Fehoko established himself as a legitimate star.

SJSU had the second-most first team All-MW defenders, behind only San Diego State.

Senior offensive tackle Jack Snyder makes back-to-back appearances on the All-conference list, earning a second team spot.

Tight end Derrick Deese Jr., defensive end Cade Hall, punter Will Hart, running back Tyler Nevens, linebacker Alli Matau, offensive lineman Tyler Stevens, defensive backs Nehemiah Shelton, Tre Jenkins and Jay Lenard all received honorable mention All-MW honors.

Winning the biggest awards were Nevada quarterback Carson Strong, who won his second consecutive MW Offensive Player of the Year award. San Diego State defensive lineman Cameron Thomas won Defensive Player of the Year and SDSU viral sensation punter Matt Araiza won MW Special Teams Player of the Year. San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke won MW Coach of the Year, an award that Spartans’ head coach Brent Brennan won in 2020.
