By Julia Coty — Reporter

SJSU women’s basketball team lost 86-56 in the opening game of the 2021-22 campaign against Washington State on Tuesday.

Now the Spartans are headed to Cheney, WA., to battle Eastern Washington with hopes of earning a win in their last back-to-back game in Washington before they head back home to California.

This game against the Eagles will be their second game played after they had to abandon their remainder of the last season because of the cancellations triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now that they Spartans are returning back to the court, the first few games are expected to be full of pressure for a great comeback.

Eastern Washington will be competing against the Spartans with the power of its their latest win under its belt. With Eastern Washington’s 80-59 win against the Whitworth University’s Pirates, the Spartans will have to come back stronger to achieve that win against the Eagles.

Some Spartans to keep an eye on will be senior defender Deja Ross, junior guard Ella Ogier, and sophomore guard Ellie Bonie. These three Spartans are transfers that were recently added to the lineup and they turned up the heat in their last game with contributions and passes.

Watch the Spartans battle to win the much anticipated game that will be played on Cheney’s Reese Court. It will be made available to view via ESPN+ on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 P.M.
