Saturday, Nov. 6

The Spartans finished 1-2 in doubles play and 3-1 in singles play.

San Jose State women’s tennis started the day with doubles play against the University of San Francisco. SJSU won one of three doubles matches.

The pairing of sophomores Jovana Babic & Irena Muradyan picked up the only win for the Spartans in doubles play. Both Babic and Muradyan put on a clinic winning both sets on court three.

Despite the below average record in doubles play, SJSU completely dominated its opponents in singles play.

Senior Alba Pedredro Galindo had a clutch performance in a tough battle against senior Jolene Coetzee of Cal State Northridge. Galindo won this matchup in a tie breaker.

Junior Rozalina Youseva dominated her singles match by winning her first set six to three and her second set six to two.

Sophomore Raquel Villan Pereira finished the Spartans’ singles sweep with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Jenna Dorian.

Galindo, Youseva and Pereira each won in straight sets over their Northridge opponents.

Sunday, Nov. 7

Women’s tennis ended the Hidden Duals tournament going 4-2 in singles play and 1-1 in double play.

Galindo picked up another victory 6-4, 6-4 defeating San Francisco’s Rita Colyer. The senior from Spain ended her weekend with a perfect 3-0 record in singles play.

Galindo, however, wasn’t the only Spartan member to sweep her opponents.

Pereira and Babic both picked up singles wins and ended the weekend 2-0 in singles play.

Hidden Duals concludes all fall competitions for SJSU. The Spartans will next take the court in January at the Fullerton Spring Invitational on Jan. 21-23, 2022.
