WVB preview: Surging Spartans host Fresno State

By Kassandra Zeledon — Reporter

San Jose State women’s volleyball (11-7, 5-3 MW) will be playing against Fresno State (7-8, 3-4 MW) on Saturday October 30th at 7pm.

This is the Spartans second game of the season going against the bulldogs.

SJSU has been on a five-game winning streak ever since their last loss against Colorado State which was on Oct. 9th, 2021.

The Spartans have a high chance of making this game their six-game winning streak, as the last time the bulldogs went face to face with the spartans they lost 3-0.

SJSU has many great competitors on their team, some players that have been making their way to the top of the season are graduate student middle blocker Ryann Thomison, outside hitter Latehivai Louisi and senior outside hitter Haylee Nelson.

Thomison is at her best this season averaging about three kills per game and 1.63 blocks. Nelson averages about a .251 kill average as she is on her way to joining Louisi on SJSU’s highest kill list.

With Thomison, Nelson, and Louisi on the team the Bulldogs don’t stand a chance stepping on the SJSU’s home court tonight.

Fresno State hasn’t been looking too hot in terms of their season against San Jose with the last game being a crushing score of 3-0 on their home court. Hopefully this will be another easy win for the Spartan’s as they put the bulldogs back in their cage.
