San Jose State women’s soccer (7-11-1, 4-6-1 MW) lost its final game of the season 3-1 at Fresno State University (9-6-3, 7-3-1 MW).

Fresno State sophomore forward midfielder Kassandra Ceja scored the first goal of the game in the thirteenth minute following Spartan freshman midfielder Taylor Phillips’ foul.

SJSU struggled throughout a majority of the last 15 minutes of the first period. Phillips, sophomore forward Evan House and senior midfielder Natalia Nava committed fouls which hindered any chance of scoring.

Bulldog freshman forward Kaelyn Miller put her team up 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute.

This kicked off a motion of events where the Spartans committed more fouls on their attempts to get any offensive momentum going.

Fresno State sophomore forward Brooklin Woolf put the game out of reach with a goal in the 80th minute that made it 3-0 for home team.

The lone bright spot for the Spartans came in the 90th minute. Sophomore midfielder Jaiden McClellan scored her first goal of the season.

SJSU ends its 2021 campaign near the bottom of the Mountain West standings with a better overall record than only Wyoming and Air Force.
