WVB preview: SJSU looks to keep it rolling against rival Bulldogs

The San Jose State women’s volleyball team (10-7, 4-3 MW) will be playing against Fresno State tonight at Fresno State. (7-7, 3-3 MW)

The Spartans are currently in fifth place in the Mountain West Conference as they defeated the University of Nevada in last week’s matchup, which pushed the Wolfpack to 0-7.

Someone that the Bulldogs should look out for is sophomore Mia Schafer. Against Nevada, Schafer scored her third consecutive double-double. In total, she tallied 36 assists and ten digs in the matchup against Nevada.

The Spartans were finally able to stop a three-game losing streak against Nevada, which matched their previous season-high. The Spartans will try their luck again when they face off against the Bulldogs.

Another Spartans player Fresno State and fans alike should pay attention to is graduate student Latahevai Lousi. She led the Spartans against Nevada with 12 kills and a .409 hit percentage.

With Schafer and Louisi on the team, the Bulldogs should feel uneasy even on their home court.

Fresno State hasn’t been doing so well after being swept in their last game against UNLV.

The Rebels put the Bulldogs back in the dog house by putting an end to their three-game winning streak.

However, Fresno State’s junior Grace Doyle kept her teammates afloat by having a solo block and gaining her team a point. From there UNLV truly dominated the match.

San Jose State faces off against Fresno State at 6 p.m. and it will be streamed live on the Mountain West Digital Network.
