The San Jose State women’s soccer team (6-8, 3-3 MW) looks to fend off the University of New Mexico Lobos (9-3-1, 4-1-1 MW) tonight.
The Spartans enter the matchup after facing Utah State University (10-4-1, 3-3 MW) where they were left with a donut on the scoreboard,1-0.
Freshman midfielder Taylor Phillips has taken center stage, leading the team with four goals and three assists for 11 points. First on a squad that is only averaging just one goal per game.
Freshman goalkeeper Autumn Monty has seen the bulk of playing time with a goals-against-average of 1.60 and a save percentage of .711 with a record of 2-5.
Her counterpart, freshman goalkeeper Shayla Sugai has played in nine games starting in three with a 1.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .750 and a 4-3 record.
UNM is coming off a loss against the University of Nevada Las Vegas (9-6, 2-4 MW) by a score of 2-1.
Freshman Zaria Katesigwa has been on a tear for the Lobos. She has eight goals and three assists for 19 points in 13 games played.
Red Shirt senior goalkeeper Emily Johnson has been great in net, notching a goals-against-average of .97 with a save percentage of .815. She has a record of 7-2-1 in ten starts.
This will be a tough matchup for the Spartans who look to establish themselves in a tough Mountain West Conference against a powerful Lobos squad.
The game will be at the Spartan Soccer Complex at 5 p.m. and it will be aired on the Mountain West Digital Network.
