The San Jose State women’s volleyball team (9-7, 3-3 MW) will be hosting the University of Nevada Wolf Pack (3-14, 0-6 MW ) this Tuesday at the Spartan Gym.
SJSU played the Colorado State University Rams (9-6, 5-1 MW) last Saturday afternoon where they got swept in a four-set match against CSU.
The Spartans started strong the first set taking the lead and getting the win in the end 26-19.
Then each set after the Spartans would take the lead but unfortunately would fall behind leaving the Rams to take the lead and secure the win in three sets 18-25, 26-24, 25-20.
Senior outside hitter Haylee Nelson took the lead for the game with 16 kills, graduate student middle blocker Ryann Thomison followed behind with 14 kills, and junior outside hitter Amethyst Harper ended the evening with 13 kills.
After last week’s horrendous play of games which led the Spartans to having a three-game losing streak by the end of the week, the team is hopefully coming into this week with a plan to take down the Wolf Pack.
UNR has not been playing great this season as they are 3-14 and winless in conference play.
With this outcome SJSU has an enormous advantage against UNR. This game hopefully can be a bounce back match for the Spartans.
The Spartans have 754 kills compared to the Wolf Pack’s 656, 13.2 kills per set compared to the Wolf Pack’s 11.3 kills per set, 702 assists compared to the Wolf Pack’s 597, and 117 aces compared to the Wolf Pack’s 76 aces.
With an advantage this substantial SJSU should have no difficult task with securing a win in the Spartan Gym.
You can catch the Spartans playing the Wolf Pack this Tuesday at the Spartan Gym at 6 p.m. or on the Mountain West Network.
