San Jose State men’s soccer (5-5-2, 3-1-1 WAC) played against California Baptist University (7-2-3, 2-1-2 WAC) to a 1-1 draw.
At the start of the match the Spartans were quick on the offensive side of the ball against the Lancers.
Senior forward Rudi Castro, senior midfielder Willy Miranda and senior midfielder Finlay Wood all made attempted shots on goal in the first half.
SJSU senior defender Kameron Bolden scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute assisted by Castro.
The Spartan defense stalled the Lancers from scoring in the first half.
CBU scored in the 61st minute thanks to senior midfielder Brian Gonzalez assisted by graduate student midfielder Tete Vacas.
With the score now tied, both teams are now doing their best to get a lead on one another.
The Lancers started to commit fouls during the last 10 minutes of the second half costing their chance at scoring another goal, but the Spartans also stumbled at their chances with the advantage they had on CBU til the end, leaving the match tied after extra time.
SJSU and CBU turned up its defense, denying each other chances to score.
This continued until the end of the first overtime and onto the second overtime finishing the game at a draw.
This marks the Spartans second tie of their overall season and the third tie of the Lancers’ overall season.
SJSU hosts its next opponent, Grand Canyon University, on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
