San Jose State women’s volleyball (7-4, 1-0 MW) kept their winning streak alive with a sweep against UNLV ( 9-3, 0-1) three sets to none.

The Spartans jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead to start the first set and get the momentum going.

Despite the quick lead, the Rebels quickly adjusted and responded with five unanswered points to tie the game.

The game developed into a back and forth battle between both squads with each team responding after each point.

As the final stretch of the set approached, the game was tied at 20-20.

The Spartans did not fold and showed strong resilience to secure the first set of the match 25-22.

UNLV began the second set with their foot on the gas while the Spartans struggled to get the offense going.

The Rebels built a 13-6 lead, leaving SJSU with plenty of work to do to get back into the game.

The Spartans slowly clawed their way back with two huge scoring runs which tied the game at 17-17.

With the game tied each team fought hard to try and pull away but it remained close.

SJSU remained composed and narrowly closed out the second set 26-24.

Up 2-0, the Spartans could taste the sweep and all that was left to do was finish strong in the 3rd set.

UNLV kicked off the third set with another strong start with a 6-0 scoring run.

SJSU made an attempt to come back, but the high-paced Rebel offense continued to run up the score.

The Spartans found themselves trailing 15-9, in desperate need of a momentum swing.

A quick 5-0 run by the blue and gold turned the tide and gave them the lead. The Spartans continued to push the pace with an 8-0 run to help secure the win in the third set 25-22.

Junior outside hitter Harper Amethyst had the game-clinching kill and finished the match with 12 total kills.

SJSU will look to stay hot as they host San Diego State in another conference match-up this Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Mountain West Network.
