San Jose State beach volleyball (3-5) fell 5-0 to No. 5 ranked Loyola Marymount (24-6) in its second match on Saturday.

The Spartans kept the same pairs for the Lions as they did their first game of the Stanford dual against Grand Canyon University.

On court one, junior Haylee Nelson and sophomore Jaida Ward were defeated by Paloma Bowman and Colleen McGuire in two sets, 21-14, 21-4.

Nelson and Ward have been partners since the beginning of the season and have been having difficulties finding a rhythm.

The next pair to fall short against the Lions was on court four with graduate students Kiley Lingenfelter and Calli Novak losing to Darby Dunn and Sydnie Hermann, 21-8, 21-8.

Sophomore Siena Brewster and freshman Letizia Cammillucci were the third to finish on court two, losing 21-12 and 21-10 to Iya Lindahl and Selina Marolf.

Court five consisted of junior Allison Pereira and sophomore Cheyenne Rice being crumpled, 21-10, 21-9, by Cassie Chinn and Jacinda Ramirez.

The last Spartan duo on the courts was freshmen Allyson Alden and Mia Schafer. This duo fell 21-9 and 21-14 to Emma Dodd and Madi Firnett.

The Spartans continue at Stanford for back-to-back matches against the Bears and the Cardinal starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
