SJSU baseball announce replacement Series for recently canceled games

San Jose State baseball (3-5, 1-2 MW) announced it will play a three-game series against the Creighton Bluejays (9-7) from April 17-19 in Omaha, Neb.

The new series replaces the canceled games against the UNLV Rebels because of COVID-19 contract tracing.

This is the second series against UNLV to be canceled this season with the first series on March 20-21 being canceled as well.

The Spartans have not played baseball since their 7-1 loss against University of San Francisco on April 6 and they are currently on a two-game losing streak.

In the Spartans’ second consecutive season amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the team has been plagued with cancellations..

The Spartans have only played  eight of their 26 scheduled games this season with multiple postponements and cancellations by opposing baseball programs.

Their season-opener against the Fresno State Bulldogs was canceled on Feb. 27 and it did not stop then.

Games against University of Nevada, Air Force Academy, Cal Poly, University of New Mexico were also canceled for various reasons.

The 2021 season didn’t start until four weeks in with their March 27 loss against San Diego State.

Saturday and Sunday’s games will be played at 2 p.m. while Monday’s game will begin at 11 a.m.
