The San Jose State women’s gymnastic team will host for the first and last time this season in its second meetup with Stanford.
The last time the Spartans hosted a meet was back in Feb. 14, 2020 against Alaska Anchorage where they had new career-bests and a season high team score of 192.025.
With the hardships of COVID-19 restricting the team to compete with other schools and limiting their practice time for the fall and beginning of 2021, the Spartans have made improvements throughout their previous two meets and have a possibility to get their first win at home.
Junior all-around Tia Gin and freshman all-around Lauren Macpherson both won titles in the March 5th match against Air Force.
Gin won both the floor with a 9.800 and the all-around with a 38.900.
Right behind Gin, Macpherson landed a 9.850 on the bars to record the team’s highest score of the meet and ended second with a 38.325 in the all-around.
However, the Cardinal will be bringing the heat.
Stanford sophomore Chloe Widner tallied up a 39.275 to help direct her team to a 191.825 for third place.
Widener’s teammate, senior Kyla Bryant, was another key player in the tri-meet with Washington and Boise State.
Bryant took second place overall on floor with a 9.900 to finish with a 38.600 in fourth place.
The match will begin Wednesday at 3 P.M. in the Provident Credit Union Event Center at San Jose State.
