San Jose State senior guard Richard Washington has been named a 2020-21 All-Mountain West Media Honorable Mention, the conference announced Monday.
Washington earned 17 votes, missing out on third-team all-Mountain West by just four votes.
The Mountain West’s official all-conference teams, which are voted upon by the league’s head coaches, will be released tomorrow.
The 6-foot-6 guard was an offensive juggernaut when he was on the court this season, leading the conference in scoring with 19.6 points per game.
His highest scoring game this season was his 38-point performance in the Spartans’ opening night victory against Fresno Pacific.
It was the highest scoring game of any player in the Mountain West Conference during the 2020-21 season.
Washington did not stop there.
He scored double digits in all but two games he played in this season.
He had seven games where he scored 20 points or more and three games where he recorded 30 points or more.
The Spartans will need every ounce of Washington’s scoring punch when they go up against the University of Wyoming in the first round of the 2021 Mountain West tournament Wednesday in Las Vegas.
