The Spartans’ men’s basketball game against Simpson University has been canceled, SJSU announced today.

The game was slated to tip off at 2 p.m. at SJSU’s Event Center, but according to the announcement “an issue preventing Simpson from adhering to Mountain West COVID-19 testing protocols” prompted the cancellation.

According to Simpson, a mishap with the shipment of their tests resulted in the game’s cancellation.

“The Simpson Covid-19 tests were not delivered to the lab in a timely manner by UPS,” the Red Hawks said in their announcement. “The tests were sent Monday from Simpson to comply with the required 48 hour turnaround time, but UPS did not deliver them to the lab.”

There’s currently no plans to reschedule the game, according to the announcement.

The Spartans will now look towards next week, as they travel to Pepperdine Dec. 2 to face the Waves in what will now be considered the Spartans’ season-opener.
