Mountain West football round-up: Week 5

Here are the scores and notes from around the Mountain West after Week 5.

Nevada (5-0) 26, San Diego State (3-2) 21

The Wolfpack’s defense was able to stand strong and stop the Aztecs on a last minute goal line stand to remain unbeaten. Sophomore quarterback Carson Strong threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns along with one interception.

Junior wide receiver Romeo Doubs once again led the Wolfpack in receiving stats, catching five passes for 133 yards and one touchdown.

SDSU junior quarterback Lucas Johnson took most of the snaps, throwing for 184 yards and one touchdown. The Georgia Tech transfer added another touchdown on the ground.

Nevada will look to stay unbeaten when they travel to face Hawai’i on Saturday while SDSU will look to right the ship on the road against Fresno State

Air Force (2-2, 1-2 MW) 28, New Mexico State (0-4) 0

Sophomore running back Brad Roberts had 28 rushes for 177 yards and three touchdowns to help propel the Falcons over the Lobos. Roberts was at the forefront of an AFA rushing attack that had 356 total rushing yards on Saturday.

Sophomore quarterback Haaziq Daniels also had a rushing touchdown. Although the Lobos offense had 304 total yards in the game, they were unable to score any points.

UNM will look for its first win on the road Thursday for a Thanksgiving showdown against Utah State.

AFA will also play on Thursday, but at home against Colorado State.

Boise State (4-1, 4-0 MW) 40, Hawaii (2-3) 32

The Broncos extended their win streak against the Rainbow Warriors to nine on Saturday.

BSU junior running back Andrew Van Buren had 27 rushes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Khalil Shakir had 11 receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rainbow Warriors had a valiant effort from sophomore quarterback Chevan Cordeiro. The Hawaii native threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns, two of which going to senior running back Calvin Turner.

Boise State will play host to San Jose State on Saturday, while Hawaii will also play at home against Nevada.
