San Jose State basketball player Ayzhiana Basallo has been selected to the Mountain West women’s preseason all-conference team, the conference announced Thursday.
The Mountain West Newcomer of the Year made a splash in her first season as a Spartan, breaking both 3-point and free-throw percentage records. She led the conference with 18.5 points per game on her way to making last season’s all-conference team.
Basallo is joined by Boise State’s Mallory McGwire, Fresno State’s Haley Cavinder and Maddi Utti and San Diego State’s Sophia Ramos on the all-conference preseason team.
In a Mountain West poll, San Jose State is projected to finish second in the conference this season behind rival Fresno State. The Spartans earned two first-place votes in the poll.
The Spartans’ season tips off Wednesday at Cal.
