San Jose State quarterback Nick Starkel has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
The award comes on the heels of his performance in the Spartans’ 38-21 win over New Mexico on Saturday. Starkel’s 467 yards is the most in the conference this season, and his five passing touchdowns are a career-high for the graduate student.
He currently leads the Mountain West in passing touchdowns, and is second in the conference in yards and completion percentage to Nevada’s Carson Strong.
Starkel and SJSU will face a test this weekend against a San Diego State team that has allowed its opponents an average of 109 passing yards per game.
