Former San Jose State football player Epie Sona has died, the team announced today.
A San Jose native, Sona lettered in both football and track and field at Bellarmine College Preparatory, where he earned second-team league honors as a defensive tackle.
Sona went on to play football at De Anza College after high school, where he would make the switch from defensive lineman to linebacker. He recorded 48 career tackles in two seasons as a Don.
The linebacker and special teams player made 18 combined tackles in his two seasons as a Spartan. In 2017 he graduated from SJSU with a degree in Business Administration.
