Kicking off its fall season with a three-day tournament in San Diego, San Jose State’s women tennis team returned home with more matches victorious than not.

The Spartans, participating in SDSU’s Fall Invite held Sept. 27-29,

won five of seven single matches on the first day of play. Freshmen Lara Marco Mas and Rosaina Youseva won their first college singles and doubles matches, respectively.

Sophomore Alba Pedrero Galindo, junior Klara Milojkovic and Youseva won their second singles match last weekend, advancing them to the championships. The doubles team of sophomores Savannah Sendar and Youseva won against McNeese State’s doubles team, elevating the Spartan duo to the championship and sending their opponents back home to Louisiana.

The Spartans headed into the final day with 13 wins out of their 20 matches.

Pedrero Galindo completed all three of her matches to win one of seven singles titles in the championship. The rest of the Spartans weren’t able to join Pedrero Galindo with a championship title.

San Jose State is getting ready to play in Friday’s Saint Mary’s Invitational in Moraga.
