Spartan volleyball looks to improve away record against Nevada

With the end of the volleyball season fast approaching, the Spartans are reigning in and focusing on taking down the University of Nevada, Reno.

The Spartans (12-11, 7-7 MW) are heading to Reno on Tuesday to face Nevada (8-17, MW) for the second time this season.

SJSU broke its three-match win-streak against UNLV over the weekend while Nevada took a loss to New Mexico.

The Spartans were able to beat the Wolfpack on their home court 3-1 earlier this season. The game was actually a turning point in the season for the Spartans as they went on to get two more wins after that.

Three Spartans had double digit kills in the last match with Nevada, but that did not stop the Wolfpack from winning the third set and diminishing an SJSU sweep.

The Spartans have a good chance of taking another win as they have increased the number of kills per game. Junior Thaliana Grajeda and senior Luiza Andrade have conquered their defensive strategy and will be the players to watch on the court.

The team is 3-3 on the road so this could be an opportunity to show that traveling to an away court has no effect.

After Tuesday’s match, SJSU will only play three more times in the regular season.

The match starts at 6:30 p.m. in Virginia Street Gym.
