On the road again, Spartans take on Hornets in search of first win

San Jose State men’s soccer (0-2-1) makes a trip to the state capitol to take on Sacramento State(1-1-1) on Sunday as they eye their first win of the season.

It has been a tough week for the Spartans as they were devastated with a come-from-behind 3-2 loss by UC Davis on Friday afternoon.

In the last game, the Spartans proved to be a first-half team putting up two goals before halftime. That would be the only time they would see the net for the rest of the game.

The Hornets on the other hand are coming off a goal-happy win against CSU Bakersfield.

The two teams run a similar system of having high shooting games, so it will be a game of who has a better defense.

Hornets goalkeeper Ryan Curtis had five saves in his last match, and let four goals pass him.

The Spartans’ best chance at getting a victory is if their defense is strong.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Clewis has been showing out in front of the net every game this season, and his saves are crucial for this game.

SJSU is in desperate need of a win before conference play starts in three weeks, and the way that happens is if they stay efficient and fast throughout both halves.

The ball kicks off at 4 p.m.
