Women’s soccer hosts Kansas State for first time

By Marissa Scott

With just three games and two goals under its belt, the San Jose State women’s soccer team welcomes Kansas State to the Spartan Soccer Field for a Sunday afternoon matchup.

The Spartans (0-2-1) have yet to find a win this season while the Wildcats (3-1) won their first three games to kick off their season.

Since Kansas State’s installment of its women’s soccer team in 2016, the two team’s haven’t faced each other.

The two goals of the Spartan’s season were scored by junior forward Jamilecxth Becerra, who led the team in goals last season with seven.

Although the team has been struggling offensively, the defense has allowed them to stay close in games. As a team, they have saved 20 goals and have only allowed four goals on the season.

The Wildcats finished dead last in the Big 12 Conference last season, but they have proven they are a force to be reckoned with.

They started off their three-game homestand with three shutouts while scoring six goals. Junior forward Katie Cramer has two goals and one assist for Kansas State this season.

The 0-2-1 record marks the first time that the Spartans haven’t won a match within their first three games of the season since 2013.

Kick off is scheduled for noon.
