Coming off a two-match loss yesterday, the San Jose State women’s volleyball team returned to the USF Invitational and shut out the Jacksonville University Dolphins, 3-0.

Freshman middle blocker Haylee Nelson led her team in kills once again with 12 of the match’s 48.

Middle blockers redshirt sophomore Laura Parts and junior Thaliana Grajeda came behind Nelson with nine kills each.

Junior setter Kaitlynn Zdroik came on top in assists with 19, and freshman setter Mamie Garard wasn’t far behind with 18. Garard also has six digs to Zdroik’s five.

Once again, senior libero Luiza Andrade led the Spartans in digs with 14.

Freshman outside hitter Whitney Barnes contributed 10 digs to the SJSU’s 45 of the match.

The win marks the Spartans’ first of the 2018 fall season and leave Florida with a 1-2 record.

The Spartans head home to San Jose and will prepare for the Blue/Gold Exhibition on Saturday, Sept. 1.
