For the third season in a row, the San Jose Barracuda (34-26-4-4) have clinched a spot in the Western Conference Calder Cup Playoffs.
It’s been a busy 10 days for the Cuda who were in last place on April 1. With the help of six wins, San Jose was able to move up, passing four teams, to take the 16th spot in the playoffs.
The spot was finalized for the Cuda on Saturday when the San Diego Gulls fell to the Tucson Roadrunners 6-3. San Jose who defeated the Stockton Heat 2-1 are set to play Tucson in the first round.
San Jose went all the way to the Western Cup Finals in the 2016-17 season, but were knocked out by defending Calder Cup Champions Grand Rapid Griffins in a decisive fifth game.
The first round schedule for San Jose and Tucson will be released on Sunday April 15th.
