Beach volleyball earned their first 10-win season in program history after a pair of 3-2 wins over the University of Pacific and Sacramento State.
In the first match against the UOP (8-11), the Spartans (10-11) and Tigers alternated wins for the first four matches going 2-2.
In the fifth match, senior Summer Avery and freshman Ryann Thomison went to three sets and barely clinched a win to break the tie with scores of 21-17, 22-24, 15-10.
The Spartans carried the win into the next match against the Hornets (4-14).
Sac State quickly took the lead, winning the first two matches. The Spartans No. 1 pair senior Nandyala Gama and graduate student Lyndi Scholl were defeated in three sets by the Hornets in the first match.
In the No. 2 spot, junior Julia Golbeck and senior Ciara Reistad had a tough loss, also in a three-set match against Hornet seniors Kennedy Kurtz and Lana Brow. The pair lost in the third set 18-16.
The Spartans took the advantage back after senior Breann Robinson and junior Luiza Andrade won in three sets. SJSU would win the final two matches, clinching the 3-2 victory.
The No.1 duo for the doubleheader was sophomore Laura Parts and senior Jamie Hirai winning both of their matches for the day against the Tigers and the Hornets.
The Spartans prepare for their last two matches of the season against Feather River College in an exhibition match and No. 5 Cal Poly. Both matches take place in Pismo Beach next Friday.
