San Jose State’s women’s tennis team won 5-0 against UCSD after two losses last week.
The Spartans (10-4) dominated doubles, winning all three matches against the Tritons (8-9).
Doubles pair senior Sybille Gauvain and freshman Savannah Sendar redeemed themselves from last week’s 7-5 loss against Santa Clara with a 6-3 win.
Junior Miyo Kobayashi and freshman Laura Malsert made a 6-2 win in doubles against the Tritons Madison Hale and Alexandra Weil.
“We got off to a solid start in doubles which helped us in our singles play,” said head coach Chad Skorupka to SJSU Athletics.” “It was a tough match up in singles as they were very consistent in all six spots.”
The Spartans won four consecutive matches leaving the last two unfinished.
No. 1 singles freshman Savannah Sendar is still undefeated in singles as she defeated Triton Chloe Wight 6-3, 6-2.
The win marks Sendar’s tenth consecutive this season.
No. 1 singles player Guavain is on her second win in a row after defeating Triton Ashley Chao 6-2, 6-0.
The Spartans will face University of San Diego on March 28 to conclude their two-day non-conference road trip.
