San Jose State head women’s soccer coach Lauren Hanson was rewarded for her success as she agreed to a five-year extension through 2023.
In four seasons leading the Spartans, Hanson has been nothing short of impressive.
Her resume at SJSU includes two Mountain West Head Coach of the Year awards (2015, 2017), two Mountain West titles (2015, 2017) and one NCAA Tournament appearance (2015).
“What you don’t always see is the way she leads her team by being such a strong role model,” Marie Tuite announced to SJSU Athletics. “The success of our women’s soccer program with Lauren Hanson as head coach the last four years is remarkable.”
No other time in San Jose State women’s soccer history has there been a run of success like the one enjoyed since her hiring in 2014.
SJSU is 40-28-12 overall and has averaged 10 wins per season under Hanson. A program-high 9-1-1 conference record last year was good enough for conference wins in a season.
Hanson’s success in not limited to just SJSU.
The Lake Forest, Calif., native is also making her mark in Mountain West coaching history. Her .693 winning percentage and 29 conference wins ranks fourth all time in the conference.
To Hanson, the extension shows that the administration trusts and believes in what she is doing, and it reinforces continued support for the team and staff.
“I’m excited to continue building our program.” Hanson said . “Our future goals are to continue winning Mountain West titles, go far into the playoffs and win a national championship.”
