San Jose State’s women’s water polo travels to Cambridge, Mass. to battle four ranked teams this weekend at the Harvard Invitational.

The team will take on the big Ivy Leagues and look to make up for its 14th-place finish at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational last week.

Senior Katelynn Thompson and junior Taylor Peters will compete as goalkeepers in Harvard for their second year. Thompson is the starter and Peters back him up.

No.18 Spartans (3-9) will face first No. 25 Brown University (4-5) in the first contest on Saturday. So far this season, the Bears have a total of 75 goals, while the Spartans have 73.

Following the Bears will be No. 21 Harvard (5-3). Last season the Spartans defeated the Crimson 5-3.

Sunday poses a challenge for the Spartans as they gear up to face No. 22 Princeton University (4-4) and No. 21 Wagner College (7-4).

After three years, the Spartans and Tigers will meet again. The last time the teams competed in 2014, the Spartans won 10-6. Last season the Wagner Seahawks edged the Spartans 5-4.

SJSU sits in last of six seeds in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

The first game against the Bears will start at 6 a.m. on the west coast Saturday morning.
