Women’s soccer to host hungry Wolf Pack and red-hot Rebels

By Ryan Carlson (@ryancarlson88):

After a long time on the road, the Spartans are back home for two games this weekend.

Coming off a victory against the third place Mountain West UNM Lobos, SJSU jumped into first place for the first time this season.

The women’s soccer team will face the last place Nevada Wolf Pack which is hungry for a win with a record of (1-13) and the second place UNLV Rebels who are Red Hot at (12-3).

In the past eight games, the Spartans are 6-1-1 and have outscored their opponents 9-3 during that time.

SJSU is surely looking to add to its 13 points in the conference and is determined for some distance between itself and the second place Rebels.

The Wolf Pack has only scored in four of its 15 games and has been heavily outscored in a couple of matches.

As for the Rebels, sophomore forward Michaela Morris was named Mountain West Player of the Week for scoring two goals in her team’s last victory. Offensively they have scored in all but one game in a loss to Sacramento State 1-0.

The last time the Spartans faced these two teams was last year, also in back-to-back slots, but on the road. They look to repeat what happened last year and win both games against these two teams and to increase their first place lead in the conference.
