On Sunday, the San Jose State Spartans (5-4-0, 2-0-0) won a thrilling game over the Boise State Broncos by a score of 2-1.
Jennifer Orozco scored the first goal of the game in the 57th minute, the first of her SJSU career. Shortly after, Dorthe Hoppius scored a far out shot with roughly a minute remaining in the game.
The Spartans look to shift their focus to Colorado State (2-4-4, 0-0-2) as they get set to play in their third conference game of the season at CSU this Friday at 4 p.m.
The Spartans are currently on a four-game win streak and they surely won’t plan on letting their foot off the gas pedal this week.
Sunday’s matchup against Boise State illustrated SJSU’s need for first period scoring. In its last four games, five out of six goals have occurred in the second half or overtime.
The Rams will be trying to bounce back from their fourth tie of the season, with their most recent tie coming against in-state Colorado College this past Sunday.
With great offensive weapons in freshman forward Karli Eheart and freshman midfielder Ally Murphy-Pauletto, expect nothing less than an offensive showcase from SJSU.
Currently in second place in the Mountain West heading into the weekend, a win against the Rams would keep first place New Mexico within reach.
