San Jose State gymnastics continued to showcase strong performances in its tri-meet against UC Davis and Eastern Michigan on Friday night at Davis, Calif. placing in second with a score of 194.800.
The Spartans saw senior Sophia Konieczny and graduate student Katherine Weyhmiller win event titles.
Konieczny scored a season-best of 9.850, earning her second title on bars this season while
Weyhmiller won her second title on beam with a score of 9.875.
Besides Weyhmiller performing well on the bars, freshman Kaviana Jurries posted a season high 9.800 on the event.
San Jose had its best performance on the beam in the first rotation with a 48.975 where sophomore Marissa Ashton earned a 9.850 behind Weymiller’s score.
Freshman Madison Gustitus and graduate student Madison Kirsch both earned a 9.775 on the beam.
The Spartans continued to maintain high scores in the floor exercise in the second rotation resulting in a 48.900 where freshman Ava East led the team on the event with a 9.825 and graduate student Jaudai Lopes earned a 9.800.
Following the floor, Kirsch earned the highest score for the Spartans on the vault in the third rotation. She notched a 9.800 while Lopes had a 9.750 and sophomore Olivia Reardon posted a 9.725.
With the last couple of regular season meets approaching, the Spartans are hoping to finish strong while having to prepare to host the Mountain West Championship right around the corner.
