San Jose State (7-8) women’s softball defeats U.C. Santa Barbara (9-7) with a final score of 7-5.

After opening the scoring table with two runs in the first three innings, the Spartans battled it out with the Gauchos in the fifth inning. They would outscore them 5-4 and hold onto the victory.

Junior infielder Ahmiya Noriega is continuing her momentum for an exceptional start to her season, with a stolen base and a RBI. It was her 14th RBI early into the season.

Senior catcher Aneesa Almaguer paved the way too, hitting 2-for-4 and knocking in two runs. She has five RBIs this season.

“We literally had everyone in the game at one point or another,” SJSU head coach Tammy Lohmann said. “Overall hitters were just putting the ball in play, aggressive on the bases and it took a win today.”

SJSU will continue to stay on the road as they will face the University of Pacific on Friday at Stockton, Cali.
