The offense was silent today in the NorCal Kickoff for San Jose State softball (0-3) as the team dropped its third straight, losing 3-0 to UC Davis (2-0) in Davis, California.
The Spartans struggled throughout the game to get the bats going.
Senior Aubrie Thomas and sophomore outfielder Haley Reeve were the only Spartans to get a spark of offense going.
Thomas went 1-for-3 hitting a single in the fourth inning while Reeve had a single and went 1-for-2 in the 7th.
Senior pitcher Mia Reynolds started on the mound for the Spartans recording three strikeouts while giving up three hits.
Both the Spartans and Aggies were scoreless in the first three innings until senior Mickey Buscemi hit a triple left to center during the end of the fourth to put the Aggies on the board.
Davis added another run to extend the lead from junior Bri Weekes and junior Sydney Polli scored in the fourth from a pinch hit from Weekes.
San Jose also had two critical fielding errors that made the Spartans chances of scoring lower.
“We’re going to get back to work this week and every aspect of our game,” SJSU softball head coach Tammy Lohmann said in a video posted on the SJSU Athletics website. “We’re going to get better and come out and be stronger next weekend for a home series.”
SJSU is seeking their first win of the season as they continue to play on the road.
The Spartans plan to head to Sacramento for a doubleheader with their first matchup against Utah Valley on Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m. and later facing Sacramento State at 2:30 p.m.
